XMAX V3 Pro vs V4 Pro vs Starry 4: Same Device, Different Name? What Fits What

No: the XMAX V3 Pro, V4 Pro and Starry 4 are three related models, not one device with different names. The V3 Pro and V4 Pro are close siblings that share the same battery size, 100 to 220 °C range and session and on-demand modes, and the V4 Pro adds adjustable airflow. The Starry 4 is a different design again, with a ceramic heating chamber, a 240 °C ceiling and a shorter, wider body. That matters mainly for accessories, because glass pieces made for one model are not automatically right for another.

This page is the naming guide for the whole range. The Vapetrix does not list the XMAX devices themselves at the moment, so we cover what the manufacturer says about each model and which of our glass accessories are listed for which. More XMAX guides are in the XMAX hub.

1. The Three Models Side by Side

The figures below come from the manufacturer's own instruction manuals for each model.

XMAX V3 Pro XMAX V4 Pro XMAX Starry 4
Oven Metal oven Metal oven Ceramic with an embedded heating element
Temperature range 100 to 220 °C 100 to 220 °C 100 to 240 °C

Size 150.2 x 26.6 x 23.8 mm 157.78 x 26.7 x 23.8 mm 115.9 x 37.5 x 24 mm

One caution on the battery row. The current V3 Pro manual states 2,550 mAh, but some older copies of the V3 Pro manual list 2,600 mAh, so you may see both numbers online. We use the current manual's figure.

2. V3 Pro vs V4 Pro: What Actually Changed

If you are comparing these two, the manuals show more similarity than difference. Both use the same 2,550 mAh 18650 cell, both reach 100 to 220 °C, and both offer a session mode with 4 or 6 minute timers and an on-demand mode where the device heats while you hold the power button, for 30 seconds at a time. Both are switched on and off with three clicks of the power button.

The V4 Pro manual adds two features that the V3 Pro manual does not have: an airflow adjustment control, which lets you make the draw more open or more restricted, and an option to flip the display. The V4 Pro body is also about 7.5 mm longer, and its box lists four spare mesh screens, against two for the V3 Pro. If you already own a V3 Pro and are happy with the draw, those are the main reasons to consider the newer one. If you want to see how the V3 Pro compares with other devices, our Arizer Solo 3 vs XMAX V3 Pro review and the LimeLight Frolic vs XMAX V3 Pro comparison look at it from different angles.

3. Where the Starry 4 Fits

The Starry 4 carries the XMAX name and the same style of controls, so it is easy to assume it is simply another name for the V4 Pro. The manufacturer's manual says otherwise. The Starry 4 has a ceramic oven with an embedded heating element, where the V3 Pro and V4 Pro list a metal oven. It offers a higher maximum temperature of 240 °C and a third, 10-minute timer, and it is a much shorter and wider device at 115.9 mm long and 37.5 mm wide.

It does share some things with the others: the same size of removable battery, USB-C charging, adjustable airflow and a flip display option. So it is best described as a sibling in the XMAX range, not a rename. Some sellers list it as the Starry V4 or Starry 4.0, but those labels belong to the Starry 4 range and do not mean it is the V4 Pro.

4. What Fits What

This is where the naming matters in practice. The glass accessories we sell are third-party pieces designed by The Vapetrix, not official XMAX products, and each listing names the models it is made for:

  • Made for the V3 Pro and V4 Pro: the long straight and long angled 110 mm stems, the short shaded black 60 mm stems, the 130 mm glass cooling beads stem, the 130 mm water bubbler and the 10, 14 and 18 mm WPA. Our accessories guide explains each of these and the black base they attach to.
  • V3 Pro only: the 2, 3 and 5 mm glass spacer set (listed for the V3 Pro and the XLux Roffu) and the dimpled cooling stem (listed for the POTV Lobo, POTV ONE and XMAX V3 Pro). Neither is listed for the V4 Pro.
  • Starry 4: none of our XMAX accessories is listed for it. Because its body is a different size and shape from the V3 Pro and V4 Pro, we do not confirm that any of them fit. Check with the seller of your Starry 4 for parts made for it.

If you want to use a water pipe, read our guide on using a V3 Pro or V4 Pro with a water pipe. For stems and cooling beads, the glass mouthpieces comparison goes into length and comfort. The full range sits in the XMAX V3 Pro and V4 Pro accessories collection.

5. Which One to Look For

  • You want a straightforward upgrade path with Vapetrix glass: a V3 Pro or V4 Pro, since our accessories are made for both.
  • You value airflow control: the V4 Pro (or the Starry 4), as the V3 Pro manual does not list an adjustment.
  • You prefer a shorter body and a ceramic oven with a 240 °C limit: the Starry 4, knowing that our accessories are not listed for it.
  • You already own a V3 Pro: the spacer set and dimpled stem are an option that is limited to your model.

6. Quick Answers

Is the V4 Pro just a V3 Pro with a new name? No. It shares the core specs, but the manual adds adjustable airflow, a flip display option and a slightly longer body.

Is the Starry 4 the same as the V4 Pro? No. According to the manufacturer's manual, it has a ceramic oven, a 240 °C maximum and a different body size.

Will V3 Pro accessories fit the V4 Pro? Six of our glass pieces are listed for both. The spacers and dimpled stem are listed for the V3 Pro only.

Do the batteries swap between models? All three use a removable 18650 cell according to their manuals, but follow the manufacturer's battery instructions for each model and do not use cells of an unknown quality.

Final Thoughts

The XMAX names are confusing because the models look and feel like relatives, and they are, but they are not interchangeable. The V3 Pro and V4 Pro are close, with the V4 Pro adding airflow adjustment, and the Starry 4 is a separate ceramic-oven design. When you shop for glass, go by the model names on the listing.
